Examinations: Routine & Emergency

Did we mention that children from as young as 6 months’ old should have regular dental examination? We strongly recommend it. Not only do they get used to the dental clinic environment when they are happy, inquisitive and are pain-free, but we get the chance to prevent onset of problems early on.

Most of our patients are stabilised, needing only routine examinations, supported by a regular 3 or 4-monthly visit to the Hygienist to maintain their good oral health.

The interval for each examination is set according to each patient’s need and can vary between weeks to months. We strongly recommend patients to keep up to date with their prescribed visits (Recalls) so that we can prevent the potential onset of problems.

A thorough dental examination typically involves a visual inspection of your teeth and gums, a check for any signs of tooth decay or gum disease, potentially including X-rays, a discussion about your oral health history and habits, and recommendations for maintaining good oral health. Some patients use this appointment opportunity to discuss other desirable treatment options to enhance their aesthetics and smile. We are generous with the time we allocate examination appointments, as it is probably the most important part of your journey with us.

An emergency or urgent dental appointment is treated differently. This is the time we dedicate to assessing and treating (if feasible) the issue, which might be a temporary step. Once the issue is resolved, we often invite the patient back soon after for a full dental examination.

See our FAQs for more information about what to expect on your visit.
